What Sync does
Sync can help move selected browsing information such as bookmarks, tabs, history or logins between supported devices when you sign in and enable the corresponding categories. The exact set depends on the account and app release.
Whose service is it?
The current Nirvana build inherits Mozilla account and Firefox Sync flows. Nirvana does not operate a separate Sync server. Read the service name shown on the sign-in screen and its privacy terms before creating or connecting an account.
Set it up
Open Settings → Sync or Account, follow the sign-in flow, then choose which categories to sync. Confirm on another supported device that the content appears before relying on Sync as a backup.
Sync is not a replacement for a complete device backup.
Privacy and recovery
Sync is not a replacement for a complete device backup. Account access, recovery keys and encryption behavior are governed by the service used. Signing out may leave some local data on the phone; review the app’s removal options.
What can be selected
Firefox-derived Sync generally offers separate categories such as bookmarks, history, open tabs and passwords. Confirm the categories presented in Nirvana; turning on Sync does not necessarily turn on every category.
- Same account on both devices
- Both devices online
- The category is switched on
- Wait for a normal sync
If a tab or bookmark is missing
Check that both devices use the same account, have network access and have the relevant category enabled. Wait for a normal sync cycle and verify the item still exists on the sending device before clearing anything.
Leaving Sync
Sign out from Settings when you no longer want that device connected. Review whether local copies remain, and use the account service’s device management to remove a lost or retired device.
