Privacy notice

Nirvana is an independent Android browser built from Fennec and Firefox Android code. Browsing history, bookmarks and saved logins are normally stored on your device. A website you visit still receives the requests needed to load it. Search, Sync, DNS, translations, summaries and optional diagnostics can involve separate services.

Your tabs, history, downloads, bookmarks, permissions and saved sign-ins are handled by browser and Android storage. Private tabs are excluded from regular history after they close, but downloads, bookmarks, network records and website accounts can remain. Anyone with access to your unlocked device or backup may see local data.

In the reviewed Android source, technical and interaction telemetry is off by default, and automatic crash reporting is set to Never by default. You can change data choices in Settings. If enabled, the inherited Firefox/Mozilla telemetry and crash-report infrastructure may receive limited app, device and performance details. The Settings label says “Nirvana team”; that label does not mean the current endpoint is operated solely by Nirvana.

Search suggestions and searches may go to your selected search provider. Sync uses the account service presented in the app; the current build inherits Mozilla account infrastructure rather than a Nirvana-operated Sync server. DNS over HTTPS sends domain lookups to the chosen resolver. Page Summaries can send page text to a cloud model service when you ask for a summary. Websites, extensions, Google Play and Android each have their own data practices.

Open Settings to review Data collection, Search, Sync, Secure DNS, AI Controls, Page Summaries, site permissions and saved data. You can disable optional sharing, change providers, remove site permissions, clear local data and contact us for help. Turning a switch off stops future optional collection under that setting; it does not erase data already held by another service.

We have not yet published a field-by-field inventory or verified retention periods for the inherited Mozilla services. For records handled by Mozilla, its privacy notice and account controls apply. Nirvana is a general-purpose browser, not a service designed for children. A child’s use of websites, search, accounts and downloads may involve those third parties. Parents and guardians should review Android family controls and the policies of services a child visits.

We use the security features available in the Android and Firefox-derived stack, but no browser or network is risk-free. Optional Mozilla services and other providers may process data in countries other than yours; their own notices explain their practices. We have not verified a complete list of processing locations for this build.

This notice reflects the reviewed Android source and developer answers on 2 October 2026. If a release changes endpoints, collection defaults, recipients or user controls, the notice must be checked and updated. For a specific privacy question or access request, contact the developer by email.
