01

The foundation

Fennec is part of the Firefox Android open-source lineage. Nirvana is a modified Android browser built on that foundation and GeckoView, with its own identity and product choices.

What is shared

The code ancestry explains why many settings and help topics resemble Firefox Android. It does not mean every Firefox feature, default or release note applies unchanged to Nirvana.

What remains connected

The current build still uses Mozilla infrastructure for some optional diagnostics and account flows. The website describes those dependencies and the in-app labels should be checked against the actual endpoints.
