Page Summaries gives a short overview of a supported article so you can decide what to read. Summaries can miss context, misunderstand a page or state something incorrectly. For health, money, legal or other important decisions, read the original source.
The current code includes a cloud language-model provider. When you request a summary, readable page text may leave the device for processing by the configured service. Do not summarize a private document or sensitive page unless you are comfortable with that data flow.
Open an eligible page and use Page Summaries from the browser menu or available gesture. Open Settings → AI Controls → Page Summaries to review or disable it. Availability may depend on language, page length, region, connectivity and app version.
This tool is an aid to reading, not a verified statement about a page. Pages behind sign-ins or in private browsing may be unsupported. A failed or missing summary does not change the original page.
Treat the summary as a pointer to sections worth reading. Open the original page, verify names, dates and numbers, and follow the source’s links before quoting or acting on it.
- Open the original page
- Check names, dates and numbers
- Follow the source’s own links
Some pages are too short, too long, unsupported by language or inaccessible to the feature. Private tabs, sign-in walls or network conditions can also limit availability. Use the original article when the tool does not appear.
- Too short or too long
- Unsupported language
- Private tab or sign-in wall
Open Settings → AI Controls → Page Summaries. Turning it off keeps ordinary page reading available. The setting cannot retract page text that was already submitted for a past summary.
